DEFEND THE DETAINEES FROM MENDIOLA. The government is fiercely repressing urban poor youth (including minors), threatening them with very long prison sentences while denying them access to lawyers and human rights watchers. #TrillionPesoMarch #BahaSaLuneta

Conservatives love to darkly say stuff like “you aren’t prepared for what’s next, we’re not going to be moderate anymore, you have no idea what you’ve unleashed” and then cry like babies when you call them fascists

The idea that only religions can be a source of ethics is wild to me. It amounts to a denial that ethics is something we can reason about. Divine command theory amounts to a suggestion that arguments from authority are the only legitimate arguments.

Love when conservatives preparing for political repression admit that antifa is largely anarchist rather than communist, and then explicitly say that anarchism must be outlawed on the grounds that opposing the existence of states is treasonous... Right libertarians be reaping.

10,000 years of anarchy is the *moderate* position. When the last fascist crumbles before our waves and is forgotten, our aspiration should be nothing less than an unbroken freedom that will last *billions* of years.

Since too often the public discourse on this topic ignorant and unproductive, it would be good to have an informed discussion to turn to — Jordan Lofthouse does just that bloomsbury.com/us/economists-…

REPUBLICANS: “Kimmel was not a free speech issue. It was a private decision.” TRUMP: “I TOLD THEM TO CANCEL THAT SHOW! NOW I’M GONNA TAKE ALL THE FREE SPEECH ABC HAS! NO MORE SAYING WHAT YOU WANT ABOUT ME” REPUBLICANS: “It is ridiculous to imply we are the party of censorship.”

Whats also noteworthy here is his friends haven’t really been his friends for a few years as his online persona morphed into a real life one and people recoiled

My new book, *Politicizing Business*, releases today Cambridge University Press! Central theme: in China’s political economy, the Party-state systematically enlists businesses to serve its political needs and those of its officials. The politicization of business is rooted in authoritarianism

“The pattern of grand jury refusals indicates an emerging civil jury revolt against Trump-era federal prosecutions. This suggests a coordinated resistance not from political actors, but from citizen-jurors who no longer trust the prosecutorial motives” msn.com/en-nz/news/oth…

What Matthew Yglesias quotes below is why I don’t buy the “but what about strategically important industries vital to national security?!” objection to free trade. Once you go that way, *everything* is strategically important and vital to national security. Their lobbyists say so.

People don’t dislike ICE agents because of mean words uttered by liberals. They dislike ICE agents because they behave like brutes.

Charles Fain Lehman Prohibition doesn't work. Nobody who opposed prohibition ever set "decreased consumption" as the metric for working. Stop creating violence and poverty and corruption and police states with your ignorant nonsense.
