I like this tweet from @trouteyes because although it's partly a 'modern' joke it also acknowledges the complexity of wildlife that is often overlooked. Bees are a classic example of this.

Experimented with a cheaper alternative to the Oak Tunnel for the Salbany OS at the latter part of last year. Sadly the small swarm didn't make it but they had been busy propolising the entrance tunnel mesh. #beeportals #beekeeping

It snowed. Can't see the bees or our lambs enjoying it much.

Interesting how the bees have decided to propolis around the edge of the floor mesh but not the mesh itself. Was the loose fit allowing access to bugs? 🤷‍♂️

Been working on drawers for floors. Having tried solid , deep and standard mesh floors this seems the way forward as: shallow stops underframe comb; metal helps the cold sump principal; mesh allows for easy 👀 of hive bottom & hygiene; drawer prevents draughts & wax moth.
