{{ That took forever because it’s been such a long time since I’ve done one for an OC, but I finally did it.

“Even if this library is not used often,” she says while slowly dragging a finger against the edge of a shelf, “you’d think it would be rid of dust now and then.” She can feel it already sitting on her finger.

Oh, how she wishes that boot clicking was never familiar. Fidelis lets out a low huff. In a hushed tone to him, she mutters, “I’m positive he’s acting like this over stolen cookies this time.”

Nova prays Fidelis doesn’t make a sound. Lucio has always made him...apprehensive. She swears she feels the dog next to her tense. “You flatter me. No one could ever match you in entertainment and amusement, Lucio.”

Mentally, she orders Fidelis to go on ahead. He hesitates, glancing between her and Lucio. Her words ring a bit harsher, and finally Fidelis trots past them and away. “If I jest, then what is it that must be returned to you?” That he dares claim /his/?

It’s a good thing he can’t see her rolling her eyes. She had a feeling, and yet she asked. A familiar feeling settles in her chest. One that, of course, never threatens to show on her face. It’s hot, seething. Loathing. “You’re not just going to complain about it, are you?”

If he plans to do the same sort of thing to get what he wants—as in /the wrong way/... She doesn’t know if she’s supposed to be afraid, but she isn’t. Her hands fold together in front of her, barely glancing where she believes Lucio is. “We’ll see.” A poor joke.

She’s not his jester, and she doesn’t think she has much of a sense of humor at all. So she doesn’t bother answering that. “If my intelligence has nothing to do with your plans, Count Lucio, I don’t think that’s what you should be asking.”
