I wrote a fun piece about existential priests for Broadview Magazine !

In Canada, seniors take benzodiazepines for sleep issues for years, even decades, even though the drugs are only meant to be used short term. My feature for Maisonneuve Magazine looks at how an overburdened health care system allows for these kind of issues to slip through the cracks.

This exchange should be studied for a long time. The interviewer read the book, not to gain new insight, but to get angry that it wasn't written from the perspective he preferred. He expected Coates to crumble under his onslaught. But Coates didn't. That's what makes it powerful.

Please please do not let this become normalised. every time you see an image or video of a screaming child, a burning woman, a man crying because he lost everything, sit with it. Take it in and let it fill you with grief and rage, and let that move you to demand an end to this.
