Latinx journalists from various news outlets in Kansas City came together to share one message: let's take care of our community. Proud to be a part of this cohort. Here's the English version. Next tweet is our Spanish version.

I try not to cry on the air very often, but the story we ran just now (an emergency room nurse looks back at a year of fighting covid-19) nearly got me. I'll share it when we post it on our website. Amazing work, Aviva ... and thank you for your service, Sarimar Gascot.

Emergency room nurse Sarimar Gascot has spent the last year watching patients die from the coronavirus. Listen to her reflect on a year of loss in this audio diary. kcur.org/health/2021-03…

This is a very human, very touching inside look at what an ER nurse’s life has been like this past year. Thank you for this, Aviva. And to Nurse Sarimar Gascot, muchísimas gracias por todo que has hecho. I cannot imagine what you’ve been through. Te mando un fuerte abrazo.

Ay this piece from Aviva is *chef's kiss.* via KCUR: As an emergency room nurse at @TrumanMedKC, Sarimar Gascot sees death all the time. But a year into the pandemic, she still hasn’t gotten used to watching a patient die from the coronavirus. kcur.org/health/2021-03…

A council committee is taking another look this morning at $78 million in infrastructure projects. It's a clear sign of dissatisfaction with how the general obligation bonds have been dolled out.

Aviva (@avivaokeson) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Voters approved $800 million in general obligation bonds in 2017 that would be spread out over two decades to pay for infrastructure repairs. But at the rate the city council has doled out money, the program would only last about 15 years. kcur.org/news/2021-04-0…
