The Lower Colorado River Authority just opened the first floodgate at Buchanan Dam. It is the first time the LCRA has opened a floodgate on the lake since 2019. A second gate, next to it, is slowly being opened. CBS Austin

Floodgate operations from Lake Buchanan today. LCRA opened a total of four floodgates at Buchanan Dam on July 14 – the first floodgate operations there since May 2019. This coordinated response helps manage significant water inflows across the Highland Lakes system.

Next time you're next to Lady Bird Lake, think about how much water is in there. Then multiply it by 100. That's about how much water has been captured by Lake Travis and Lake Buchanan. LB is effectively full and still passing water down to Lake Travis which is over 670ft

We expect to close all floodgates today. Current status: - All floodgates at Buchanan Dam are closed. - One floodgate remains partially open at Wirtz and Starcke dams. - Water continues to flow over the spillway at Inks Dam, which does not have any floodgates.

4:30 AM - Some of you waking up a lil' early this morning courtesy of some elevated storms A few lightning strikes detected around Dripping Springs. Most of the rain evaporating before reaching the ground which is why radar is rather unimpressive #atxwx #txwx

September 19 is the 60 day deadline to finish replacing Cow Creek Bridge on RM 1431 in North Travis County. It was ripped apart by the July 5 flood. The company can get a $1 million bonus by finishing 20 days ahead of schedule. Drivers are now using a long detour. CBS Austin

Gotta keep a close eye on this storm complex this morning⛈️ Depending on how it evolves, we could see a quick/rowdy batch of storms locally later this morning into the afternoon. Strong/damaging wind gusts would be our main concern #atxwx #txwx
