Happy Flag Day! Timehop reminded me that it’s been 10 years since I had the pleasure of interning under the incomparable Erin Blasco at National Museum of American History during the the Star-Spangled Banner bicentennial commemorations.
As a former NHD participant and Maryland History Day assistant coordinator, I loved turning on CBS Sunday Morning 🌞 to see a feature on Cathy Gorn and National History Day Day, now in its 50th (!) year. So glad to see this program being introduced to a broad audience.
Know an emerging museum professional looking for work? The The Flag House in Jonestown is hiring a Visitor Services/Public Guide. Pay is $16/hour, up to 20 hrs/week. Details: flaghouse.org/about-us/job-o…
Greetings from Marseille! 🇫🇷 We brought along some favorite bedtime books featuring The Pigeon (as well as a Pratt Library copy of Nanette’s Baguette) to watch the Olympics in France. It’s always nice to hear a familiar story after a busy day of new sights and sounds.
We represented Baltimore at the Olympics this morning by bringing our Star Spangled Banner flag (of Fort McHenry and The Flag House fame, of course) to cheer on the track & field athletes at Stade de France in Paris!
We had a 24-hour stopover in Iceland and loved visiting the Perlan - Wonders of Iceland in Reykjavik. The immersive films (such as the “guaranteed Northern Lights” in the Planetarium), high-tech interactives, and amazing views (plus, ice cream) made this perfect for our brief stay.
I did some forestbathing in Herring Run this morning. I was reminded what a gem this park is, and how fortunate I am to have it in my backyard.
