SNP WIN: Stephen Flynn re-elected in Aberdeen South

Today marks the 36th anniversary of the Piper Alpha disaster. My thoughts are with all the families and friends who lost their loved ones in the tragedy all those years ago.

The fact Labour have won a massive majority on just a third of the votes is precisely why Labour will never support a proportional system. The UK will always be a fundamentally undemocratic state.

We’re only talking about tens of thousands of direct and indirect jobs, the ability to deliver net zero, the economy and energy security. A bit of clarity from Labour wouldn’t go amiss, particularly given the promises that there wouldn’t be a cliff-edge.

If Labour fail to act on abolishing the poverty inducing child benefit cap this week then the SNP will seek to force a vote in the Commons. It’s the bare minimum we should expect from a Labour Government, and we’ll hold them to account until they act. independent.co.uk/news/uk/snp-sc…
