My statement on the conviction of Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd:

This dude completely missed the entire point of this bill. It’s like he fell asleep when they were writing it. Im demanding you resign, Josh Hawley. You are a disgrace to this country.

The miscarriage of justice today is enraging. This is white supremacy in action. This is hideous. He murdered people, bragged about it while throwing white power signs in a bar, and then manufactured tears to claim that despite his AR-15 HE was in danger. And he got off. Unreal.

No words. Just utter fury.

The judge. The jury. The defendant. It’s white supremacy in action. This system isn’t built to hold white supremacists accountable. It’s why Black and brown folks are brutalized and put in cages while white supremacist murderers walk free. I’m hurt. I’m angry. I’m heartbroken.

What we are witnessing is a system functioning as designed and protecting those it was designed for. My heart still breaks for the communities and families whose grief now compounds, and the countless others who will be denied and deprived in similar scenes across the country.

It’s unconscionable. When we tell you it’s all about control? This is yet another example of what we mean. Equality NOW. #ERA #ERAnow
