I wanted my colleagues to visualize 1.8M kids w/ no families to love & care for them, and give them fond childhood memories. This stresses the need to improve the law so we can expedite our adoption procedures, making it easier for these kids to have the home they deserve.

For my part, I filed a bill on Alternative Child Care (SBN 61), which seeks to establish a comprehensive code that will not only simplify domestic adoption procedures, but will also improve our foster care programs for the benefit of abandoned, neglected, & abused children.

The Senate of the Philippines Committee of the Whole just held a hearing on allegations of corruption & inefficiencies in PhilHealth. Among the issues discussed was the questionable releases of its Interim Reimbursement Mechanism (IRM) funds, which are meant to address the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Senate of the Philippines today discussed the Medical Scholarship Bill (SBN 1520), establishing a medical scholarship & return service program for deserving students. I commend the bill's sponsor Sen. Joel Villanueva & principal author Senate Pres. Vicente Sotto for pursuing this initiative.
