Halo CME (@halocme) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The latest halo CME is predicted to directly hit Earth mid-day March 13. Data of in situ measurement from L1 (Wind, ACE, DSCOVR), STEREO-A, Solar Orbiter and BepiColombo will not only test these simulations but also help us understand the CME-related disturbances in 3D.

Solarstorm & #Aurora 5-day Outlook: Busy week with a triple threat! A a big #solarstorm storm is coming sandwiched between a glancing blow from a previous #solarstorm & some fast #solar wind. In each table, top row shows what is expected, bottom shows possible maximum activity.

Lovely equinox aurora last Sunday! At the start of the night the solar wind conditions didnt look that promising but we got lucky 🌌🌟 it's a known effect that geomagnetic activity increases around the equinoxes so it was fun to see the aurora on equinox itself!

Last Saturday the Earth was hit by CME and I was lucky enough to be in Abisko! Ironically the night started with the aurora being too far south for us to see and we had to wait until around midnight for the aurora to come back north, but it was worth the wait!

Zoom in to the incredible detail of your home star with the highest resolution mosaic of the full solar disc + solar corona yet! The 25-images were taken by EUI telescope 7 March when #SolarOrbiter was 75 million km from the Sun Hi-res👉esa.int/Science_Explor… #ExploreFarther

Not all fireballs are caused by #meteorites - Some are man-made ☄️ Here we see the Chinese Chang Zheng 5B (Y77) rocket, which launched in February 2021, re-entering Earth’s atmosphere and subsequently disintegrating in the skies over India. #fireball #spacedebris

Studying Jupiter at mid infrared wavelengths is the best because we can measure the H3+ emission to get temperature of the upper atmosphere AND ALSO the H3+ velocities which reveal how heat is transported AND the dynamic mechanism which generates Jupiter's aurora 🌌🌟🔭👩‍💻🎉

Hi friends my PhD is due 3 weeks today & I would like to not be unemployed forever🌟plz send me STEM/spacey/education/EDI jobs you think I might be interested in. I’m open to academia/industry/govt/outreach/charity etc.I mostly just want to stay in central Scotland/N England!☄️💫

There was another beautiful fireball over the UK last night ☄️ please check any doorbell csmeras, dash cams etc for any footage and send it to @UKMeteorNetwork so our UK Fireball Alliance team can have as much data as poss 🙏✨

The All-sky camera at Gemini Observatory South got a pretty good view of the Lunar eclipse last night! Note the very sharp decrease in brightness between 12-17 seconds! #discovertogether #Eclipse #EclipseLunar #Eclipse2022 NOIRLab NOIRLab en Español

Hi all, we think there is a #meteorite in Wales! After a #fireball a week ago, anyone in the South Wales area please keep an eye out for small dark rocks in places they shouldn’t be!

Last year, I has a really smashing group of #Orbyts school students (and their teacher Declan Fleming) who discovered that the mysterious dark region of Jupiter's UV aurora is also dark in X-rays. The amazing work they did on it was published today in GRL:agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/20…
