Bars in disc galaxies are abundant in the local Universe but decrease with redshift. For the first time, we observed the fraction of bars in disc galaxies beyond redshift 2 using JWST and found the fraction to be 3 times greater than the HST bar fraction. arxiv.org/abs/2309.10038

Our paper on the optical morphologies of galaxies up to z~6.5 through visual classifications in CEERS is now published in ApJ. The NIR/IR JWST capabilities reveal that the structure of these galaxies have a lot in common to the ones in our local universe.

This month I was invited to join a colleague in La Palma for an observation trip. A surreal and extraordinary experience with the bonus of some clear nights to get some spectroscopic data of barred galaxies using the Isaac Newton Telescope 🪐 #INT #astronomy #observatory
