“Mistaking cats for panthers detracts from the fight against feral cats,.. which kill 1 mill native birds a night” Big feral cat might not be as exciting as panther, but it is accurate. Feral cats can weigh over 6kg and are muscular hunting machines. theguardian.com/environment/20…

Curious to gauge how many researchers, if any, are running remote camera surveys in Aus, without baits and without strategic placement on tracks, to survey wildlife including small mammals. #feralhorses have real impacts. This fouled waterhole is a disappointing reminder that beautiful animals can do terrible things in special places.

Great to have some discussion on this. Inland sugar glider was one name that we considered during the taxonomic description of the species however given that much of the species’ distribution includes coastal VIC we decided it didn’t appropriately reflect the species.

A number of areas providing refuge for the black-footed tree-rat have been marked for extensive land clearing in the Top End.... so as much as it pains me to take a vote away from the Savanna Glider, consider voting for this soon to be further threatened species.
