This week, my supervisor is running the @KU_forskeren twitter, sharing cool research from our group. Tune in to hear more about cereal grasses, GSTs, analytical chemistry and plant diseases. 🌱

Today, I got to work with Fusarium for the first time! I am trying to infect oat seeds with Fusarium spores. In a few weeks, there will hopefully be some sick plants, which can then be harvested and analyzed further! 🔬🧪🤓

Another day of torturing poor oats in the name of science. Control vs fusarium-inoculated spike - can you spot the difference? 😷#fusarium #oat

Sorghum grown in our greenhouse in Copenhagen. I knew sorghum had long roots, but I’ve never actually seen it - wild (and heavy to lift, I might add)! 🌱

Harvesting Fusarium spores today. I am having a bit of trouble with my pellet being very loose after spinning down my liquid culture, and I fear that I am loosing quite a few spores, when I discard the supernatant. Has anyone experienced this? #fusarium #microbiology

Extracting metabolites from Fusarium-inoculated oat for LC-MS analysis. Love the color scheme. 🌱✳️🟢 #fusarium #oat #lcms

Control plants (left) and Fusarium-inoculated (right). I’ve been testing a more susceptible cultivar. I might have to adjust the concentration of spores next time - I would like to have some actual live plants to analyse 😬 #fusarium #oat

I am working on my first-ever poster for the upcoming European Fusarium seminar next week. Challenging, time-consuming, but fortunately also a lot of fun. Hope it comes together nicely!

Time to head home after four days of Fusarium-related science in fantastic Rome. I learned some very interesting things, presented my first poster AND gave my first flashtalk in front of a larger audience. And what do you know - plant GSTs were even mentioned in a talk 👀 #efs16
