The dark signifies the absence of love, for light is love. Accordingly, there is darkness in us when Jesus, “the true light” does not come to us, because his presence repels all darkness (Commentary on John 6).

Let us continue to work for this mission with fervor and commitment so that generations to come will have the opportunity to be educated in what is true, good and beautiful.

Lent begins today for Christians. It is a time of hope and renewal. It invites perspective. I need to see myself not in terms of my desires but in terms of how I am becoming who God wants me to be in generous service to others.
