Kick the can down the road.. Dec 2024 to March 25, now to May or August? The machine is programmed to get rid of independent pharmacists (PBM reform) and physicians (fee schedule, POH, regulatory capture)—why would DC interfere with its lobbyists wishes coming true. Healthcare

Dr. Glaucomflecken Lawyers protected law firms from PE by writing an ethical rule that said every law firm has be to owned by a lawyer to make sure non-lawyers were not getting a say into the practice of law. I often wonder why healthcare didn't protect itself from PE in the same way?

CRITICAL UPDATE: Medicine is at a crossroads. Physicians are now moving to employment over private practice due to overburdensome regulations and financial incentives to do so. Facilities can pay doctors significantly more than they make in private practice and this increased

Healthcare -- not housing -- is the primary expense for the typical American family. However, most healthcare costs are hidden from view (primarily in the employer share of premiums), so people think housing is the biggest expense.

Interesting proposal. A better cap would be to link health system exec pay to the conversion factor in the PFS. A CEO cap could be 40K RVUs and scale downward from there. ⁦⁦⁦Dutch Rojas⁩ ⁦Real Doc Speaks⁩ ⁦Anish Koka, MD⁩ beckershospitalreview.com/hr/mass-genera…

statnews.com/2024/08/19/ors… This Stat article is really what the Affordable Care Act was about. No, it wasn't to help people afford insurance; it was about making the political insiders rich. The architect of the ACA, Peter Orzag, states that the point of the ACA was vertical

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.. nice summary of the early events that started the downhill spiral of US healthcare. How many times do we let our emotional side drive our decisions, like the article by AG did for many Americans back in 2007.

The last time America had a “serious” healthcare reform, we ended up with $2,000 prescriptions because of vertical integration and PBMs… thanks unAffordable Care Act. Irresponsible policies have consequences

Orgs hire MBAs to make money, not help pts. By the same token, physicians get their MD to help patients… Let physicians take care of patients without the middleman and red tape.

You walk into two clinics. One’s a sleek, independent facility with friendly staff and a posted price list: MRI: $300. The other is a health system cathedral with marble floors, valet parking, and a “Patient Experience Concierge.” Same MRI: $3,000. Guess which one Medicare

Dutch Rojas One of the purposes of the ACA, written by the Insurance Lobby and Hospital Lobby, was to drive private practice out of business. We can’t let them win.

Site neutral payments were the big thing 15 years ago, that is until they passed the ACA (Thanks Barry). Forgot how much of a money pit the "HOPD rate" designation really was until recently. Join us as we discuss this and several other topics in the inaugural "Doctor's Lounge"

This is artisanal level work by a master surgeon who has only gotten better w his craft over the years. He will be lucky to earn $1800 for this surgery on a Medicare patient - that includes the surgery (4-6 hours), and 90 days of post op care bundled into the payment. Adjusted
