Bit of #basketball in #dubai

Basketball means everything to Salimata Sylla. Wearing a hijab on the court hadn't been a problem in her 14 years playing ball — until now.

We were different We draped gold on our heads and necks And threw our tobs over our shoulders Our skin and thick oiled hair glistened under the sun rays Until they started to tell us to stay in the shade And thrust hot irons into our curls Then we all became the same

It has now been 1️⃣5️⃣8️⃣2️⃣ days since we raised serious concerns to Sport England regarding the British Ju-Jitsu Ass NGB (who they still continue to recognise). The NGB Chair posted these on Facebook & the NGB has failed all 7 examples listed in the Recognition Review Policy 😯

Here is a summary🧵 of my experience in Khartoum #Sudan and beyond when the conflict erupted on 15 April! - I Arrived Khartoum on 10th April, to take up a new role. I went to office on Tues, Wed and Thurs. Fri & Sat is weekend. Sunday is first day of the week and work.
