The Damascus Gate, Jerusalem. Photos taken 100 years apart. Built in 1537 by Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, it stands on the site of earlier Roman & Islamic gates. For centuries, it has been a main entrance to al-Quds and a gateway to reach Masjid al-Aqsa.
