This is so special to me. When Mum first showed me this photo of Dad when he was my age I actually thought it was a photo of me. Makes me think about what’s ahead in life, all the adventures yet to come & how fortunate I am follow in Dad’s footsteps, carrying on his legacy.

The worst part of being an emotional or empathetic person is that we’re more easily manipulated. I think it’s harder for us to firmly judge people. We feel for them. We want to give second chances. We have emotional reactions to apologies etc. and it’s harder to cut people off.

We see the good in people because we see a bit of ourselves in everyone. It hurts us to see anyone hurting even if they might “deserve it”. So it’s harder to protect ourselves from people who are expert manipulators pretending to be ‘hurt’ or ‘sorry’ just to gain our forgiveness.

And it’s really not about being “too dumb to realize” it’s about realizing...but still finding it hard to be firm with people, or escape people, because the emotional reaction is so strong when the person starts begging you or making excuses.

And it’s really sad when a manipulative person realizes they’re dealing with an empath and takes advantage of it...
