Y4 have been learning about states of matter in Science. We have been exploring the properties of each state and how particles are arranged. We then investigated how some materials can change state when heated or cooled. We explored: melting, freezing, condensing and evaporating.

Y5 have enjoyed dissecting flowers in science with Yvonne. The children used scientific tools to dissect daffodils, learn the scientific names for each part and which parts of the plant help it to reproduce. They created some amazing pieces of work and the practical activity!

At Ashbrow we are always thinking of ways to support the environment. Work has begun on our pollinator garden. The existing raised beds are being removed and the new garden beds are being prepared, ready for planting up next month. Thank you Morley Glass #reducereuserecycle

Y4 have started a new writing unit. We are looking at 'The song of the witches' from the book Macbeth and are composing our own poetry verses to go with it. We have been thinking about what vocab links to the spell of the witches. We will be performing in groups!

Y5 have been designing and building their Greek inspired structure. They thought about which greek features they would need in their designs including columns, a strong base, a lintel and frieze. They worked together to create sturdy columns so the roof didn't collapse!
