What is the military justification for turning Jenin town centre, road junctions and shops into this? West Bank hasn’t seen this for years. Genuinely interested to know.

At least 12 people drowned today in the English Channel. Their boat tore apart. According to the rescuers, the bottom of the boat just ripped completely open. It’s frankly unbelievable that could happen. There were no freak weather events, no storms. But the boat just ripped

Live pictures on Sky News showing the French coastguard trying to encourage a tiny inflatable dinghy to turn back. Dozens of people on a tiny flimsy boat, just a day after 12 people - including 6 children - died after their boat was ripped apart. This is terrifying.

Imagine growing up in a Gaza refugee camp, traveling days to Egypt for Arab Idol, missing your audition but getting a spot because another contestant gives theirs up for you, and then winning. Now, your song plays to millions worldwide. That's Mohammad Assaf's incredible story.

There were definitely women from Afghanistan present, even if the numbers weren’t particularly high. But be realistic, how likely is it that a woman from Afghanistan has the privilege to drop everything for a few days + travel abroad for a conference. This is an unfair criticism.
