A possible Athetis (Proxenus) lepigone, taken at light by V. Atkinson on 7/9 in County Durham (VC66). It's not known at this stage whether the specimen was retained, therefore I'm not sure if these images are enough to confirm what would be a new species to Britain.

Northumberlandia NWT reserve was a good choice for this afternoon’s dog walk as the Pectoral Sandpiper on Shotton Pools was showing well (though against the sun). Northumberland & Tyneside Bird Club teesbirds

Great memories of a fantastic day 12 years ago today: Pallas’s Grasshopper Warbler at Whitburn. Too busy this week for the Tynemouth bird, so I’m looking at my old photos instead. Durham Bird Club teesbirds

This evening HPAI (bird flu) strain H5N5 has been confirmed from 5 of our fulmars collected at Druridge Bay (25 Sept) and from a further 3 collected at Seaton Sluice (28 Sept). A sad picture is emerging. This is the likely cause for the whole incident. So many fulmars affected.

No new year ticks in this morning’s moth trap but nice to see again a Merveille du Jour with a supporting cast of Green-brindled Crescent and Spruce Carpet. Also late Snout and Straw Dot among 22:13. VC66. #TeamMoth teesbirds
