Doulton Lambeth's Agate wares (seen on the frontmost vase) used a centuries-old technique to create pottery resembling the fine gemstone. The marbled effect does not come from the glaze but from different-colored clays that are kneaded together.

#Jasperware is perhaps the quintessential #Wedgwood clay body and is even considered to be a ceramic development on par with porcelain. Here we show two jasperware jardinières: one with lilac and sage decoration on white jasperware ground and one in light mauve.

These dishes are evidence of the scientific spirit of the mid-19th century. Outdoor activities such as gardening and bird-watching [referenced on these plates] were considered moralizing forms of self-improvement, and were even thought to improve one's health.

This extremely delicate and finely painted scene has got us thinking about fall! It belongs to a small yellow porcelain beaker and is truly a miniature, measuring around 1.5" in height. The artist would have painted this scene with a brush of only a few hairs.

#DYK Meissen produced undecorated porcelains that were sent out to hausmalers, “home painters,” throughout Europe for decoration. This teapot was decorated by a Dutch artist in clear imitation of Chinese export porcelains. artistoric.com/product/meisse…

Objets by #DaisyMakeigJones 🦋 Small tabletop items like these were everyday luxury pieces for middle-class consumers. These boxes would have been placed on a vanity to hold little bits and bobs and elevate the dressing experience. #vintagestyle

This c. 1750 dish, part of a dinner set for 12 by Doccia, shows one of the factory's most popular designs: the "al tulipano" motif. The central flower is not a tulip but an interpretation of the peonies used in Chinese porcelains. artistoric.com/product/doccia…
