What a privilege to host a visit from Ian Murphy today at GSHS. Ian is a contemporary British Fine Artist best known for his powerful, tonal drawings and atmospheric, mixed media oil paintings of architectural places. Our Year 10s loved working with him this morning.

Ms Stephenson has been working hard with students behind the scenes on the Carnegie Medal project. They have been shadowing the awards and reading books from the shortlist. They have voted for their favourite and we are waiting to see which book wins on Thursday. @CILIPCKG

Great to see our Year 9 boys taking part in the Newcastle United Foundation Enterprise Challenge. They have worked with Mr Phillipson to design a social media campaign to encourage young males into further education. Here they are pictured with Chris Cook, Olympic Swimmer at St James' Park!

I had no money growing up. My dad was a labourer and my mum did everything to make ends meet. Men worked hard. Women worked miracles. But education was free. As was the local library. I knew books were my passport to a better life. Happy #WorldBookDay

For WBD, we used our criminal minds to solve a murder mystery. We have many budding detectives who solved the case! We gave out 600 free books courtesy of The Bound Bookshop in W. Bay and we announced the winners of our Crime Short Story Comp. Well done to winners and entrants!
