For anyone having a bit of a grey day - here's some more colour African animals from our Year 8's to brighten it up! Some of these really made me smile, and I've loved seeing the variety of different animals you have all chosen - truly all creatures great and small! ๐Ÿ˜€

Something a little different I thought some of our Year 7s might appreciate! Van Goghโ€™s 'Starry Night' in a whole new way at the Amsterdam Light Festival youtu.be/m1lPUzObBLA ๐ŸŒ™

Both Seren and Lucy sent me images of the stone painting creations they've been working on for fun in their spare time. Seren was inspired by mandala patterns and Lucy said this started as a way of passing time during lockdown and look how many she's made now! Very creative! ๐ŸŽจ

We love to see the work you make in your spare time and what you choose to create. Whether it is an important statement you want to make, a character you've created or an alternative design for a Tardis interior - we love to see how your creative minds work! Keep them coming! ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŽจ

Look at this wonderful horse that Lucy in Year 8 has drawn using digital art. She's done a great job with this, look at the soft layers of colours - lovely effect - thank you for sending to us, well done Lucy. ๐Ÿ˜€

I am so impressed with the Year 7 Still life drawings so far! We've never done anything like this before in lessons - but look at Angus' strong tonal range, Eliot's ambitious composition and Joseph's attention to light on the bottle cap - very careful observation boys, well done!

Let's not forget the girls! Yet more gorgeous examples by Eloise, Emily and Ruby in Year 7, all of which have strong tonal ranges, well considered compositions and carefully observed finishing touches which make for some beautiful pieces of work - well done! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Shoes in the style of Gordon Smedt are starting to come in from our Year 9's - what a range! I was particularly impressed by the realism of Chloe and Richard's shoes, and then the sheer colour explosions that are Sophie and Lauren's shoe studies - excellent work, well done!!๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ‘Ÿ

One of the joys of being an Art teacher is to see how our student's interpret a task. No two pieces of Art are ever exactly alike - even when they are working from the same resource images. To illustrate my point, here are some of Year 9's colour studies of Van Gogh shoes! ๐Ÿ˜Š

Some more fabulous examples of still life compositions using overlapping objects in 2B pencil - it has been a pleasure to see the variety of objects our Year 7's have been using and how they have continued to challenge themselves and push their skills to the limit! Top work! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŒŸ

My Year 7's final colour compositions are coming in and I'm excited by what I've seen so far! I feel I need to say a special "Well done" to Eloise for her immaculate blending, Jack for his use of complementary colours, and Joseph for his ambitious choice of objects!๐ŸŒŸ

For their last ever Art lesson I gave Year 9 a chance to create their own work, and I am so impressed by Cieran's BB8! He has used just about anything he could find at home including paints, pencils, highlighters and even pipe-cleaners. Such a creative mind - what a star!๐ŸŒŸ

Year 7 were given a list of artists they could study: I love the vibrant colours used for Matisse and Warhol, the way that Ruby captured the darkness of Bacon's work, and I had to mention Thomas - Kandinsky was not on my list- but this is an excellent representation of his work!

Some students find it really hard without a teacher by their side, but I was so excited to receive this piece of work from a student who often tells me she โ€˜Canโ€™t drawโ€™ - look what she managed to achieve through patience and resilience! So proud of you Abi - what a star! โญ๏ธ

Our Year 8's have begun to look at the street artist Roa, recreating his enormous street paintings using biro in their sketchbooks! Look at the way they've used small strokes to build up hairlike texture and create realistic 3D form - beautifully observed Year 8, well done! ๐Ÿฐ๐Ÿ™๏ธ

It really made me smile when I checked my Year 9 assignments today and discovered Josie's interpretations of a "Colour study of a cake in the style of Wayne Thiebaud" and her "Biscuit composition piece in 2B pencil"... clearly she loves Harry Potter almost as much as I do!๐Ÿง™โ€โ™‚๏ธโšก๏ธ
