A truly enjoyable meeting with my former PDRF family. Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation & Build Change will partner to build resilient houses in typhoon affected areas, bringing together government, the private sector and most importantly, the communities through a homeowner driven approach. Joining for a few hours team Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation x Build Change in their shelter assessments in Bohol 🏡 Great and insightful conversations all morning! Disasters, bad as they may be, are also a clear entry point to promote and accelerate the "resilience" agenda esp in shelter.

Almost 9 yrs after Typhoon 'Haiyan,' we visited Guiuan, Eastern Samar, where it first made landfall, to assess #ResilientHousing Build Change PH constructed for the community in 2014. We are happy to see that they are intact and sturdy even after many more typhoons.

Powerful earthquake felt here in Dili. People going out of the streets. Quite long and intense horizontal motion. I'm about 400 meters from the coastline. Monitoring for tsunami warning.

After the M 7.6 #earthquakes last night, no major damage reported in Timor-Leste. The EQ highlights the need for Timor-Leste to urgently prioritize the development of a building code and integrate risk reduction strategies into development efforts.
