NYT coverage of Venezuela continues to leave out key context, leading to a partial view of what’s happening. To its credit this piece mentions US sanctions but gets the timeline wrong and fails to connect some key dots. The result is frustrating 1/n nytimes.com/2023/07/22/wor…

For about 10 years conservatives have been shooting around polls of high schoolers indicating Gen Z will be right-wing. But this never pans out. Virtually all polling on Gen Z adults indicates they’re overwhelmingly left/liberal

How do people in the US identify on the left-right spectrum? In 1995, Democrats mostly identified as centrists. In 2017, far more gravitated to the left. Republicans have always identified as right-wing, but now more are identifying as far-right.

Genocides can happen with gas chambers. Or machetes. Or they can be carried out with 2,000lb bombs and aid blockades. Genocides rarely look the same. But they're all designed to arrive at the same endpoint: the elimination of a people. My latest on Gaza: middleeasteye.net/opinion/gaza-i…

I was at the USAID rally today in DC, and frustration with Democratic lawmakers was palpable. Several times Democratic speakers were interrupted by chants of “shut down the senate” “do your job” “what’s the plan?”

Senator Chris Van Hollen (D) spoke at an anti-Trump rally in DC today. Immediately after his speech protesters heckled him with chants of “do something” and “shut down the senate.”
