Can there be more striking disconnect between the priorities of 'development' and the need for survival on a steadily warming planet.

Much needed order. Trees get cut without any thought. Govt of Sindh needs to account for all the trees cut in the name of development and not replaced. Let's replace the trees lost due to #GreenLineBRT. Stop the clearing of mangroves at Mauripur and Bundal Island.

What happened yesterday was a reaction by local feudal lords against our struggle to protect Kirthar National Park from mining and builder mafias. We will respond legally & politically — but we will never abandon our fight to save Kirthar and Malir. #SaveKirthar #SaveMalir

It was so obvious that constructing a highway in the Malir River floodplain would have a negative impact that a simple sketch was enough to illustrate the impact. It's pretty obvious the river will reclaim its floodplain. #malirexpressway #KarachiRain #KarachiFloods #malirriver

Floods in the Indus Basin are an annual constant. The only things that change are the growing population and the encroachments into the floodplain. #FloodsInPakistan #riverindus #FreeTheIndus

sponsored.bloomberg.com/article/king-s… Our government planner love to look to the Gulf for inspiration for our own cities. Why don't they look at initiatives like this that help to balance nature with development. #karachi #greenandsustainable #urbanparks #parksandrecreation #urbanreliefspace

Karachi sits between two rivers and the sea. It should naturally drain into these bodies of water. It would require concerted stupidity and incompetence to prevent it from draining naturally. #sindhgovernment #karachifloods #karachifloods #malirriver #citybythesea #greenkarachi

A proposal from 2022, an alternative to the #MalirExpressway. An acknowledgment of the 4,000+ acre Malir floodplain between Sh-e-Faisal and Korangi Crossing as the green lung of Karachi. An opportunity still largely possible to develop a large urban park on the Malir River

these are wild boars, ancient inhabitants of Kirthar National Park and the Kohistan region of Malir well known to Indigenous communities who have lived alongside them for generations The real question isn’t why these animals appeared inside Bahria Town...2/5 #EnvironmentalJustice
