Continued signs of a weakening labor market are evident in this month’s #JobsReport, just published by BLS-Labor Statistics. The labor market added only 22k jobs while unemployment went up slightly to 4.3% in July. Black and Latino/a workers are being hit hardest with rising unemployment.

New IWPR analysis shows the gender wage gap is worsening. In 2024, women working full-time year-round were paid just 80.9¢ for every $1 paid to men—down from 82.7¢ in 2023 and 84¢ in 2022. This marks the biggest drop since 1966 and the worst ratio since 2016. Read more from
