Defra sources said the scheme will be targeted at “small farms”; wealthier farmers will not be eligible, meaning larger farms will be locked out of nature-friendly farming incentives.

Biodiversity Net Gain? Slashed. Nature-friendly farming? Defunded. Climate & Nature Bill? Blocked. It’s austerity, privatisation and inequality dragging the economy down - yet it’s our natural environment that’s being mullered to pay for it.
