Today is #NationalDrawingDay and we will be sharing some wonderful drawings from primary school students. We asked them to respond to Heaney's poems, and the artwork they created is amazing! 🎨 First up is Tara from ArdaghNS with her interpretation of 'Storm on the Island'🖼

"We just sit tight while wind dives And strafes invisibly." from 'Storm on the Island' by Seamus Heaney. Kristian from ArdaghNS drew a wonderfully detailed island for #NationalDrawingDay Look closely to see stone houses, trees, fences and more. And that storm looks wild! ⚡

"Never fear. We may let the scaffolds fall Confident that we have built our wall." Ava from ArdaghNS illustrated Heaney's poem 'Scaffolding', a favourite reading for Irish weddings! ❤We love the 'Always' bunting in the background. #NationalDrawingDay

"when it begins, the flung spray hits The very windows, spits like a tame cat Turned savage." The waves are huge in this illustration for 'Storm on the Island' by Ella from ArdaghNS but the sun in the distance gives hope for brighter calmer days ahead! 🌞 #NationalDrawingDay

Last but definitely not least, we have Méabh from ArdaghNS and her image of 'May' by Heaney. She shows the "Trout flipping" and the warm stone bridge in this lovely peaceful scene. Big thanks to all the brilliant students who took part in #NationalDrawingDay with us! 🖼🎨❤
