The level of ignorance of MSPs regarding the world of licensing is as dangerous as it is astonishing. People whose decisions impact on the livelihoods of so many should at the very least have a basic understanding of what they are discussing. After all they pass the laws.

It's disgraceful, Douglas. It leaves the rest of us ( clerks, agents, LSOs, board members, police etc) to try to make sense of the mess they create - usually by us all being "creative" as we try to put square pegs into round holes. It doesn't need to be like this.

Totally agree. It's much too important, both economically and societally, too be treated like a second class citizen.

The more I read the transcript of the debate the more depressed and angry I become. If an agent appeared in front of a licensing board as ill prepared as some of our MSPs appeared to be yesterday he or she would quite properly incur the wrath of the board ( and the client!).Awful

Totally agree. Zoom etc meetings are an excellent " back up" but are nothing like the traditional "face to face" hearings - particularly for contentious matters.

Nightclubs shut for 3 weeks from the 27th. Yet another body blow for the trade. If this had to happen why was the announcement not made the other day when the post Christmas restrictions were announced?

Also, nightclubs can trade as a pub according to SG subject to social distancing etc BUT local conditions will apply presumably which will mean, eg in Glasgow, closing at 12 midnight as there will presumably be no "substantial entertainment " after 12.

I get the fact that Leeds are flirting with relegation but every game they are involved in is fabulous to watch. They never chuck it. Hope they stay up. Their fans also get right behind their team even when they're getting humped. Credit to them.
