Hey Vidit Gujrathi Are you surprised why White is playing such a complex position strategically? The point however is he has been a combative player for the most part. Difficult to play something opposite of your natural style esp. when such a style has been serving you so well.

Wanna take a bet? I am pretty sure 4 of the people you mentioned would not be there(the Candidates tests your sporting qualities, not only your Chess qualities).

chessbase.in/news/anustoop-… Thanks ChessBase India for the coverage of both the events. Growing up in Delhi, events such as these helped me grow and improve as a player and challenge me consistently! Thanks to the organising team for making this event possible!

One thing I don't understand is how can someone bitter like Nepo who has himself admitted to have cheated in the past online be so proactive against cheating and try to uninvite Hans from playing in imp. events? Is it not simply hypocritical?

Please do not talk on uninformed basis. Danny and Tania Didi are quite similiar in terms of strength. The only reason you think Tania Didi is a better player is that she is a woman when Danny is not and hence Tania Didi gets a lot many opportunities which Danny does not.

I remember you had said back in Dec 2023 that FIDE is monitoring such cases and will do something about it to discourage such practices and these practices are still very relevant.....

This looks like unsportsmanlike conduct to me. At the very least, it raises serious questions about fair play. I’ve played many events while being sick and never forfeited like this. There should be clear rules and consequences unless properly justified.

The trailer for Rafa Nadal's Netflix documentary is out. "People think I was a winner. I am not a winner. I am a competitor." The greatest competitor in the history of sports as far as I'm concerned. It comes out May 29th... Can. Not. Wait. 🥹

She was training somewhere in another time zone where it was 2 am. Her alma mater was interviewing her to award the best alumnus. She made it a point to wake up and attend that interview. I was on the jury. I specifically asked her how it felt when her brother was doing so

Emilchess Chess Watch ♟️ Obviously, the Candidates and The Championship are by far the biggest events. Anyone who thinks otherwise is delusional. Problem is how many of these viewers were brought in by FIDE or watched it on FIDE broadcasts. FIDE is way behind in these aspects.

Maybe. However, in some tournaments even Open tournaments you have to be at the venue 1 day prior to register for the event or you will not be paired. Also usually on Departure Dates organisers might give flights and transportation to invited players.

While am a huge admirer of Dings play, he should not be so high up the rankings given that he became inactive not so long ago. The rating system must not reward inactivity and must try and make it fair for everyone. All the best to Ding for remaining games!

Aryna Sabalenka had kind words for Naomi Osaka after beating her in Madrid “She’s such an inspiration. Coming back after pregnancy in a sport like tennis is not easy at all. To see her back in top 20, for sure she’s going towards top 10. It’s incredible. It’s inspiring. She
