JUST IN: New proposals released at #CITIESSC78, our WCS team on the ground in Geneva reports. Oceanic whitetip sharks, whale sharks, and manta rays are up for new protections to curb their freefall toward extinction. These will be voted on at #CITESCOP20 in November.

This winter, the @WCSOcean Giants team retrieved and redeployed 6 acoustic monitoring instruments for a two-year project, supported by NYS Energy Research and Development Authority. The data helps create baseline info on marine mammal species and ocean noise in offshore wind lease areas, guiding best practices.
