While passing cars might catch the odd glimpse of our links, it’s the birds overhead that truly see the scale and beauty of the land hidden behind our clubhouse. Terrain made for golf.

Our 17th takes you on a journey — starting high in the dunes, dropping to a flat fairway that was once duneland before being excavated for sand after World War II, then climbing back into the dunes for the approach.

With October around the corner, we’re reflecting on a brilliant summer of golf, highlighted by co-hosting the English Amateur and welcoming visitors from all over the world to enjoy our links.

The sixth is a quietly brilliant hole — the first to head inland after four along the coast. The sudden change of wind direction and boundary up the right provide the test, before a terrifically shaped green completes the challenge.

Back in 1920, as golf entered its “golden age,” Harry Colt came to Wallasey to assess the course. While his work never went ahead, his report survives in our archives, and it’s a fascinating piece of history. Take a look - what catches your eye?

Four local clubs battled it out on our links on Monday in the Millennium Links Cup Finals. Congratulations to our ladies section, as well as Wallasey Golf Club and West Lancs Golf Club for qualifying for the finals day, and to Formby Ladies Golf Club who took the spoils 👏 👏 Lancashire Golf

Member and greenkeeper Josh McMahon reflects on his run at the English Amateur, where rounds of 69 at Wallasey and 70 at Hoylake saw him qualify for the matchplay on -5. Brilliant to see one of our own make the cut, and even better to hear how well supported he felt that week.

From high above the 11th, you can see the 16th - the two linked by a grass path that lets members play a shortened back nine if they’re short on time.

We can’t thank our greenkeepers enough for presenting turf that earns praise year-round. Even as winter approaches, we know the course will still play beautifully - true greens and firm, mud-free turf underfoot.
