No Indian polity will be willing to fund actual learning resources for so-called migrants (except maybe Kerala, but I may be wrong) unlike say in France (very good resources) or Germany or even in the Netherlands where English is widely used, but Dutch is widely taught.

This is a major problem that I've also encountered across India. Language teaching is dated and outside of school there exists no formal ways to learn a language. Several linguistically inclined Germans tried to pick-up Telugu and left it because of the lack of material.

It turns out that in Gulf Arabic, fīlm hindī "Indian film" is an expression meaning "melodramatic, over-the-top", an obvious reference to the exaggerated displays of emotions and expressions in Bollywood movies. Fun (and fitting)! (Hindī of course just means "Indian" in Arabic)
