Struck by Cuomo’s focus on national politics in this POLITICO New York piece. Fighting the Trump admin should certainly be a focus of our next mayor, but “I would spend eight years in Washington” should be concerning to NYC voters. Running NYC is a full-time job, not a stepping stone

The way Brad Lander can drop facts about his record and then effortlessly pivot to DRAGGING Andrew Cuomo is award worthy. Idk what the award is but it's shaped like a Real Housewife.

It is actually nuts that even when the NYC political establishment was presented with a broad field of talented candidates w/ many ideas, in a time of generational change & anti-corruption, they STILL chose to line up behind scandal-ridden Andrew Cuomo. It’s cowardice.

Cuomo laughs on the debate stage when confronted with the death toll of his Covid cover-up. Completely immoral and beyond disgusting.

Inbox: Zohran Mamdani and Brad Lander cross-endorse each other for NYC mayor, urging their respective supporters to rank the other candidate second on the June 24 ballot.

Cuomo “can't even remember the last time he was ever in a mosque,” Lander says. “I am proud as a Jewish New Yorker running for mayor to be cross endorsing with a Muslim New Yorker running… That's the tradition of that statue in the harbor.”

lets put the election aside for a moment. this is the NYC COMPTROLLER arguably the most important role in the city. He's asking for a warrant. They arrested him.

Brad has been helping New Yorkers safely exit for the past few weeks. He’s a citywide elected official. And one of the most calmest, most reasonable human beings. This arrest is an escalation and unwarranted.

Remarkable big-picture perspective from Meg Barnette, Lander's wife, on how ICE is wreaking havoc on immigrant families in New York City (and beyond). x.com/JCColtin/statu…

It's simply beyond me how anyone can witness this state of affairs and believe the solution is another round of liberal incrementalism

Most don’t realize Brad Lander goes to immigration court to accompany immigrants because ICE agents wait in hallways and by elevators to detain those without lawyers. ICE operates in the shadows. But when most Americans see the reality of mass deportation, they don't support it.

brad lander’s family at the protest for his release — meg choking up as she says that she knows brad will be okay but the spouses of those disappeared by ICE do not have that privilege

incredibly proud today to work for Brad Lander. in 1989, he was at the marches to allow families like mine come to the United States as political refugees. he’s still putting his body on the line, 35 years later.

FWIW Brad Lander is the only mayoral candidate who risked giving up a safe seat to run because the stakes of an Adams/Cuomo mayoralty were too high. I desperately do not want to lose him as a citywide elected official during Trump 2.0

not usually one to agree w/ezra klein, but as a former brad staffer, this really captures what so many of us who’ve worked with him or know him feel. he’d be a truly exceptional mayor cause he’s always been deeply competent & very caring. yesterday was just a reminder of that.
