It was an absolute privilege to host General Sir Gwyn Jenkins KCB OBE RM in the Fighting Clan today 🫡 A moment that will live long in our memories as the announcement of his new appointment was made during the time he was on board meeting our Ship's Company 🚢 #SansPeur #1SL

A blog on the brutal finale of the Bismarck Action. The Royal Navy corners injured Bismarck, but with some humanity amid the horror: 'We had done our job, which was to sink the Bismarck and so now we offered them mercy' - George Bell, HMS Dorsetshire. bismarckbattle.com/the-final-reck…

An utterly shambolic failure, which speaks volumes about the entirely avoidable, near total collapse of the RFA in recent years. While the RN struggles to get a single mothership to sea, many smaller navies have theirs delivered and operational. navylookout.com/rfa-stirling-c…

Someone from the UK MOD should tell the Russians - or the French and Italian amphibs currently exercising off Devonport - that LPDs/LPHs are obsolete now, because they’ll just be destroyed at range by air-/land-launched anti-ship weapons. Which we also don’t have.

Today's Sunday Times scoop is that the UK will buy A variant F-35 jets with possible nuclear role carrying US B61 bombs. As always politics are paramount with nukes & this means putting more eggs in the American basket, while shunning ideas of expanded UK or European capability
