The current global capacity for carbon dioxide removal from the air is ~8,000 tonnes/year. Coincidentally, ~8,000 tonnes/year is also estimated for the personal carbon dioxide emissions of the average billionaire. The world has enough carbon dioxide removal for ~1 billionaire.

Following the Loire two months ago, dry river beds appear in the Mississippi. Will legislators everywhere just act together on the #climatecrisis please? #DontLookUp

FARCICAL EXCLUSIVE ALERT! If I wasn't the one to write this story, I'd think it was a wind-up. Recall that massive £250m civil penalty DEFRA said it would let the EA levy against polluting water companies? Well, not only has the EA NEVER used it against water firms... 1/3

An absolutely must-watch speech from Hilary Benn on the Government's dangerous EU Retained Law Bill. "This is a shocking Bill. "I remind the House that one person's 'burdensome law' is another person's safe working conditions. It's their right to take parental leave."

Good to see this Nick Robinson. I may have missed it but it would be good to clarify this on your show so the same audience has the right information.

Today, I confronted with UK 🇬🇧 Minister of Energy, Climate and Environment Zac Goldsmith at #COP27. I asked him, "When will you release those jailed climate activists your Govt. arrested for protesting to stop new oil & gas license across UK?" He replied, "No idea" & run away!

While France is banning short-haul flights, the UK government is now promoting them, under the slogan 'Grow the Economy' More like 'Kill the Living World'. Policies like this, in times like these, will be recorded in the history books as ecocide.

I really wish the ubiquitous GHG #decoupling charts were better news than they are (as it would make things much easier) but unfortunately they fall foul of the 'fallacy of composition' and are fostering a dangerous complacency about climate change efforts. 🧵
