The Life of a Marketer: - Talk CEO down from cancelling all brand spend - Schedule 27 cross-departmental meetings to get new project live - Defend marketing budget from finance - Explain to sales why we can't just "make it go viral" and "leads don't suck" - Craft perfect

Challenges for OpenAI - LLMs are being commoditized and Opensource models will be good enough for many use cases. OpenAI knew these hence making GPT4-o free. - There haven't been any major leaps between recent models to give them a huge edge - Enterprises still trying to find

OpenAI is a tough platform to build on. Perplexity is the most successful app built on their platform. It getting built into ChatGPT is a much better user experience. I don't see why you'd ever use Perplexity as a separate product.

Talking with Karim Atiyeh about this and realizing how thoughtful he is about choosing vendors made me change my behavior on how I do this. Speaking to the founder, going deep on capabilities, product roadmap, and differentiation of their solution are all things I didn't have

Incredible managers ... ... Manage the work, not the people. I truly believe they are the most effective people to put into leadership roles.
