A special meeting of Belfast City Council will take place on Thursday to mark the passing of Pope Francis, following a proposal by Sinn Féin. Pope Francis was a man of deep faith and unwavering leadership. It’s only right that we, as a council and as a city, honour his legacy.

🇵🇸 Kneecap have used their platform to expose Israel’s genocide in Gaza. Attempts to censor or silence Kneecap are aimed at suppressing the truth. Sinn Féin stands firmly against the censorship of Kneecap or any voice that challenges injustice. KNEECAP Ryan Murphy

Great to see new mobile phone infrastructure going up on the Glen Road. Anyone who uses this road knows how bad the signal has been. This is a good start but there’s still more to do, and we’re working hard to bring more improvements to West Belfast.

Genocide is unfolding before our eyes. Babies in Gaza are being starved to death. Whole families are slaughtered by a genocidal, out-of-control Israeli regime. Yet it’s Kneecap, who are using their voice to expose this genocide, who face charges by British police. Outrageous!

No cops to protect Catholic families being put out of Annalee Street because their too busy arresting a 72-year-old grandmother, Sue Pentel, a Jewish member of the IPSC, on a picket outside Barclays Bank over its support for Zionism.

A Sinn Féin proposal in Belfast City Council to purchase the historic Assembly Rooms was passed today. This is a significant initiative which would take this building, which is central to the history of Belfast and Ireland, back into the ownership of the people of Belfast.

🇵🇸’This is not a war. It is a one sided attack by an apartheid state, and an escalation of a decades long attempt to obliterate a population.’ An incredibly powerful speech by Sinn Féin MLA Emma Sheerin today, as the Assembly backs Sinn Féin’s motion condemning Israeli genocide

The British Prime Minister’s proposal for a mandatory digital ID card is ludicrous and ill-thought out. This proposal is an attack on the Good Friday Agreement and on the rights of Irish citizens in the North of Ireland.

Facts matter. For months we have heard about the widespread opposition to dual-language signage. In reality, only 2.9% of ALL residents across 536 streets approved by Belfast City Council have opposed the signage. On 76% of those streets (409), not a single resident responded in opposition
