Patients First The level of hubris when non-physicians try to tell physicians what medical school and residency training entails is just astonishing

The truth about NPs in primary care: mismanagement often takes years to manifest. Instead they often tout superior 'outcome' measures, like # of returned phone calls, using shoddy methodology. There's a reason FM is a 3 year residency. #MedTwitter #StopScopeCreep #NPsLead?

AANP intentionally implies 89% of NPs are in primary care. In fact, only 48% do according to NCHWA. Additionally, data shows they do not practice in rural settings any more frequently than physicians. Expansion of healthcare access? #MedTwitter #StopScopeCreep #NPsLead?

People wonder why I go hard with this scope creep issue. This is why. Every, single, f***ing day. No one ever asks how PPP came to be but this is how. Patients like this ending up in our lap by luck or happenstance. And nearly every time the family or patient thought they were

I want to give a shout out to nurses. Nurses rock. There's often a misunderstanding that opposing Mid-level independence is an attack on nurses. This couldn't be further from the truth, Mid-levels will play the nursing card when it is convenient for them. Nurses at not Mid-levels

I am lesser qualified than a consultant paediatrician. A PA is lesser qualified than a GP: sorry, but a two year MSc vs a 4-6 year degree, 2 years foundation and 3 years GP training, are NOT comparable.

THE TRUTH ABOUT MEDICINE (@ttaboutmedicine) 's Twitter Profile Photo

No medical education, no pediatrics residency, yet some legislators think that they are qualified to diagnose and treat pediatric patients. After watching docs examine 10 pts. in each age range listed, except newborns (5), they call themselves “pediatric” NPs.🧐🥴 #notqualified

Let's indeed be clear - PAs believe they're equivalent to physicians. Either medical school+residency is necessary or a two-year graduate degree is sufficient to practice medicine independently. It can't be both. And it's not the latter. #MedTwitter #StopScopeCreep

Part of the problem addressing deficits in NPP training, is just acknowledging the problem exists. Defensive deflections & ad-hominem attacks have not served their profession well.

I just love these, why should physicians spend nearly as much time (3-6 months) doing nursing work when some nursing students (LPNs) only train for 12 months... Might as well give me a nursing license with my MD at this point.

A standardization and understanding of terms for physicians and nonphysicians will be beneficial to the public and health care professionals. AMA delegates adopt new policy to help #StopScopeCreep at #AMAmtg. spr.ly/6010zlvaE

A reminder to anyone saying "A physician could have made this mistake" why would the solution ever be to replace them with an individual with even LESS training? This was a horrifying and preventable event.

We firmly reject the adoption of CRNA’s in Canada. Anesthesia should remain as a physician-led domain of medicine, with a specialty trained anesthesiologist or FPA providing care, with the support of Anesthesia Care Teams. Full statement - ow.ly/Js3p50KJskn
