What I've learned in these bitter few years is the inequalities in the leasehold system extend into your ability to legally defend yourself. So far I've been disappointed with what we could afford. It's heartbreaking.

I don't want another loan to settle a section 20 bill I don't even see myself as liable for. Around 2009 I was in a very dark place with depression and got into a lot of debt. I cleared it all over 5 years and lived on nothing and I'm damned if I'm going back to that for such an

I said to a woman at work. I wish I could have afforded to put more away for when I retire - her "we'll probably just downsize and live on that" There's not a day goes by I wish I hadn't got on the property ladder all those years ago, rather than paying more and more in service

Leasehold has basically fucked my life, and I will tell all and hopefully drag this HA down with me tied to the anchor, as soon as I'm free to speak. It looks as though we'll be proceeding to court over the Section 20. Can't say any more. Livid and upset, let down by the system.

Leasehold is a totally rigged system, structurally biased that perpetuates injustice by favoring Freeholders over Leaseholders. Despite all the past reviews and legislation it's worse now than it's ever been. Everything that was wrong with it 100 years ago is still wrong.

Amen to that! My life's fucked too - lost everything to #leasehold; still in debt to it, have no #money left, facing #forfeiture, can't even go out very far cos my old #car needs work & I can't afford it, my #disabilitybenefit just covers bills! I wonder what the point of it all

orwellvalley I spent 3 years fighting council over a re-roofing that didn’t need doing. Being charged £9000 for a £3000 job 😡 Lost and had to pay

You get what you're given. Not what you deserve. - House MD. If ever there's a motivational quote to try and make your mark I think that's probably it. I've been so low for the last 5 years. I'm in a home that doesn't feel like mine and an insecure job, with a section 20 debt

What is your problem Matthew Pennycook MP why are you not sorting this mess out. Stop dragging your feet. Real people are being destroyed. Sort this out fast!

Meanwhile back in the uk Leaseholders are being bankrupted by freeholders and living in fear of the next ficticious bill that comes with the threat of forfeiture if not paid! Living in Ukraine sometimes seems not a bad option if you're a leaseholder in the uk.

Deserves a reply from Rupert Lowe, but won't receive one. Have you noticed how little MPs engage in dialogue on X compared to the previous Tory government?

Well I sold an amplifier, a preamplifier and a bicycle. I scraped the 800 I need to pay my share of our defence on this Section 20 for our first day in court. I don't know how housing associations and freeholders can do this to leaseholders just making ends meet, with a clear
