The house-to-house campaign modality is the gold standard for #PolioEradication. Vaccinating children on the doorstep is critical to interrupt transmission. Despite changed modalities UNICEF Afghanistan is committed to optimizing campaigns and advocating for maximum reach & quality.

We should all raise our voices for #Afghan girls and women whose voices are being silenced and dreams denied. Locked out of schools, confined to home, rights denied, they have few prospects beyond early marriage. No country can get ahead if half its population is left out.

.@Unicef is alarmed by reports that the de facto authorities in #Afghanistan plan to ban women from studying in medical faculties. A ban would further limit women's ability to contribute to society & have consequences for the health of the Afghan people. unicef.org/press-releases…

If true, and the DFA in Afghanistan intends to ban women from medical studies, the consequences for women & children & families will be disastrous. Lives will be lost. UNICEF calls on the DFA to continue to allow women to pursue medical education. Read Catherine Russell statement 👇🏼
