I think the teacher bursaries should be abolished. They haven’t worked and there is a risk you attract people who just want the tax free 25k. #edutwitter

After 7 years at my current school, I finally get to experience the joy of my tutor group going on work experience, and so don't have to do tutor time in the mornings.

Hi all, Student of the Week was a close call. It was between Kylie Jones and Boy Jayden. Kylie got 100% in all her exams, got Grade 8 piano, saved a choking boy’s life using the Heimlich Manoeuvre and raised £3000 for Red Nose Day. Jayden came to school with a pen. Thanks

Michael Gove used to ban teachers from their profession for life for drug use. He got caught taking cocaine and a few years later he's getting a peerage? It's as clear as day that drug laws are just there to punish the working class.

We will be a 100% mobile phone free school from September, with a two week trial at the end of this half term. ✅ Mobiles collected in the morning ✅ Returned at the end of the day ✅ Children can be children at break times ✅ They can learn without distractions in lessons 💪🏻

Hi all, Tomorrow, we will be telling the kids who got 100% attendance this year, that they are going to Chessington World of Adventures for a reward trip. Such a shame Jess, Young Carer of the Year, and Alfie, who’s just had the all clear from his oncologist, can’t go. Thanks x

Speaking of the drop off in reading, I CANNOT believe that in 2025 my niece’s set texts for the already reading for pleasure-killing GCSE torture tests were Of Mice and Men and An Inspector Calls. Literally as if eighty years of culture has not happened. Insane and so so dumb.

These are my top tops for making texts accessible. *1.5- double lined spaced *line numbers *Gloss the vocab immediately above the target word *Add image if easier than words (e.g pikes!) No 3 also means you can easily read both target & explainer word when reading to class.

I was explaining to my Ukrainian colleague the phrase ‘There’s no such thing as a free lunch’. She told me the equivalent in Ukrainian is ‘The only free cheese is in the mousetrap’ - which is so much better

As a high school teacher, I can honestly say I'd rather trust democracy to 16 year olds than spiteful, elderly Daily Mail readers every day of the week.
