A2: First day of school a K student ran out of the room and hit under a table. I was able to bring him back to the room, reinforce the safe space, and praise when he used it next. hasn't left room since. #highlanderchat

A3: I have tried to start this at staff meetings, but I have not yet found a sustainable way to implement FAIR plans yet. As with anything, it takes a focused amount of time, which is rarely available. #highlanderchat

A3: Our TC has created about 30 cognitive break boxes. These are for students to use when they need a break. This has been much more productive than the typical "walk" #highlanderchat

A1: Determine what is the function of the behavior and use that information for how we react. Sometimes ignoring the behavior is best. #highlanderchat

A3: It will show students what is the appropriate ways to interact with friends/peers. Experience is truly the best teacher and students will experience what it is like to be a friend and what they want in a friend. #highlanderchat

A1: I find that helping facilitate meetings is one of the most effective avenues to support. In some situations, it helps to bridge the gap between home and school. It gives teachers the backing of the admin, but it also shows the parents we are in this together #highlanderchat

A2: Continue w/PD such as Minahan, teachers need tools and knowledge on how to handle these situations (as do admin). Too often the removal of students is due to stress and frustration because of a lack of strategies on how to solve a situation. #highlanderchat

A3: Constantly checking in, positive praise, advice/feedback, defending them when they are making the right calls with behavior. #highlanderchat
