One of the more valuable lessons I've learned is that writing a book isn't just sitting down and typing. It's also the long walks I take, the art I look at, the books I read, the songs and movies I absorb, the museums I wander around. A lot of what I call passive writing.

From the Belly has been described as "slow burn, poetic queer horror", "a biting critique of capitalism set against a backdrop of gruesome body horror" but also "too gory to finish" which I think encompasses it. It's also eligible for the 'First Novel' Stoker Awards category.

I sent a note to an artist years ago because I connected with a drawing of his. He emailed back that he was sitting alone in a hotel room wondering if it was all worth it when he got my note. I think about that a lot. Tell people when their work matters to you!
