Fusion breakthrough generates excess energy for first time computing.co.uk/4061613/ via Computing.co.uk Still long way to go as the lasers needed 322MJ input for 2MJ focused beams and the fusion output was 3MJ, so 99% inefficient overall. Scale needed to get working efficiencies.

Hi Avanti West Coast , nice new signs at Euston, but it would be better to use them for operational info eg on the 2 hour delay this afternoon. Totally understand it was a security incident & out of your control, but pax comms is important.

Another world class discourse at Royal Institution (now on Bluesky) , this one by Prof. Brian Keating on the theories of the creation/origin of the universe(s) and the practical experiments being undertaken to find evidence to eliminate some options. Watch this space for a future Nobel Prize.

I’m in Raspberry Pi Raspberry Pi Foundation tech geek heaven. A few 5’s left. Amazing to think the little credit card Pi5 is as powerful as many desktop PCs, and several orders of magnitude more powerful than my #BBCMicro and #Sinclair PCs of the 1980s, and all created around Cambridge

Great session last evening at Royal Institution (now on Bluesky) by Anu Ojha of UK Space Agency explaining why exploring space is hard, but essential. Also, a demo of rocket propulsion by igniting vaporised ethanol. It was the Ri after all, and we do bangs.
