“Many children and families are still missing and traumatised.” From Mandalay, Myanmar, UNICEF Myanmar's Ko Sai reports on the earthquake’s devastating toll on children and families. Donate to support UNICEF’s ongoing response: unicef.link/4hM95Hv

“UNICEF remains committed to stay, deliver and be present in the field and making sure the children are protected and can thrive and be themselves," reflects Lucia Elmi, UNICEF Emergencies Director, on her recent mission to Sudan. #ForEveryChild

🛑The powerful #MyanmarEarthquake left millions of children and families in fragile conditions, with limited access to safe water, healthcare and shelter. Earlier today UNICEF, with the vital support of EU Civil Protection & Humanitarian Aid 🇪🇺, has flown 80 tonnes of life-saving supplies to Myanmar. (1/2)

“The intensifying violence has created one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, leaving millions of children at risk." Full remarks from Catherine Russell to the United Nations Security Council on the humanitarian situation in DR Congo. ⬇️ unicef.link/3GbhirD

With growing funding gaps and increasingly complex crises, preparedness and localization are no longer optional – they're essential. In #EHF2025 panel on unlocking supply chain potential Lucia Elmi highlighted these approaches as key to reaching more children in crises.

Great exchange between Lucia Elmi and Elke Löbel at #EHF2025. Germany's partnership matters for children in fragile contexts like Sahel, Sudan and Syria and achieves sustainable impact. Looking forward to continued strong collaboration #ForEveryChild.

Meaningful exchange between Lucia Elmi and Ina Heusgen at #EHF2025. We're grateful for Germany's principled support to reach children in the most complex crises. Discussions covered the dire situation in Gaza and joint efforts to protect women and girls in the Horn of Africa.

On mission in eastern #DRC, Lucia Elmi visited Kigonze and Salama IDP camps. Health, nutrition, WASH, safe spaces, essential kits: UNICEF remains on the ground, but the response is weakened by increasingly limited resources. #ForEveryChild, sustainable solutions.

Today Lucia Elmi UNICEF’s Director Emergency Programmes, Jeremy Hopkins UNICEF Deputy Regional Director, Eastern & Southern Africa, John Agbor UNICEF en RDC Representative, with UNHCR Uganda + WFP Uganda teams, were at Nyakabande transit centre to assess joint #refugeeresponse efforts.

#Goma, #DRC. With Lucia Elmi, we saw signs of basic services resuming. With UNICEF en RDC’s support, schools, health centers and the hospital have reopened in Sake, Shasha and Kirotshe, and chlorination points were installed to prevent cholera. Still, needs remain immense!
