They do not help keep kids safer at all and they probably make school shootings more likely by making them more available as an idea to extremely troubled kids.

This is such a great question...we spend a lot of time lamenting the loss/lack of books in school (as we should), but we don't talk about the hardest part: rebuilding student stamina so they can read full-length novels. What do folks think? What resources do you recommend?
